The Nuggets were riding a five-game winning streak going into their game on Friday, January 26, against the Northwest leading Utah Jazz. Then it all fell apart. The Nuggets had looked pretty good. The combo of Iverson and ‘Melo was looking pretty impressive. Steve Blake was looking Nashesque. The big men were playing big. Then it all fell apart. If you blinked, then you missed the momentum that the Nuggets were picking up. If you blink as often as Dick Cheney, then you were filled with a false sense of security that the Nuggets were going to go on a tear the likes of the Suns. Alas, we were all mislead. The Nuggets are back to their old “hot or cold” tricks.
The Nuggets square off against the Trailblazers tonight in what any Nuggets fan hopes is an easy win. Getting a win will be a little tougher since Allen Iverson is going to be out due to an ankle injury. Still, one would most likely pick the Nuggets in this contest, despite their season of ineptitude. Being only five games back of the division lead, the Nuggets still have a very realistic chance of winning this division and making some noise in the playoffs. But, that will only happen if they start playing up to their potential.
