I feel bad for New Orleans and all, but I was rooting for the Eagles in this one. I was kind of thinking that if New Orleans lost, the residents could use all the “Saints, NFC Champions” shirts they had printed up in advance to patch roofs or use them as window coverings for their busted windows. I’m only looking out for the people of New Orleans! Ray Nagin sure as hell won’t.
Jeff Garcia proved once again why he doesn’t deserve to be engaged to a Playmate. Then again, maybe I’m just jealous. Garcia had a shot towards the end of the game to put the Eagles ahead, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Still, not enough can be said about the season Garcia has had. They might want to think about starting him, instead of Donovan McNabb, next year. Alright, I guess Garcia didn’t play THAT good. Nice try though Eagles.
The Saints are amazing. I think Drew Brees is my new hero. The guy just throws perfect passes. Reggie Bush, at first I was a skeptic. Pretty dumb on my part. You played a heck of a game with some impressive runs. I really feel bad for Deuce McAllister. You’re on a team with a rookie that hasn’t done jack in the NFL and all people can talk about is him. McAllister just continues to dominate, racking up 143 yards against a pretty good Eagles defense. Bottom line is that these Saints are tough, on both sides of the ball. I’m a Seahawks fan tried and true, but even I don’t think we could pull off a win against the Saints if we meet them in the NFC Championship game.
New Orleans is still pretty messed up, but the Saints go marching on. Hopefully that brings a little hope to the people of New Orleans.
Peyton Manning is a lucky SOB January 13, 2007

As Adam Vinatieri kicked his fifth field goal of the day with 23 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Colts head coach Tony Dungy was seen say the only thing one would expect, “Money, money, money.” He must have said it about five times. Of course, that’s all Vinatieri is, money.
If you would have told Dungy at the beginning of the post season that his Pro Bowl quarterback, Peyton Manning, would throw only one touchdown to five interceptions and that he’d still be going to the AFC Championship game, he would of told you to get the hell out of his office. He might have said that regardless of what you told him, but the fact remains that the Colts are winning with defense and special teams. Anyone who watches football knows that the Colts’ forte is offense, especially pass offense. Not this January.
When you go into Baltimore, you don’t expect to score too many points. There still has to be some surprise at the ineptitude of Manning. Then again these are “big games” and Manning is famous for his post season collapses. Adam Vinatieri, on the other hand, is know for his clutch performances. This game was no exception. Vinatieri tied a post season record with five field goals in a post season game, a record he has tied before. Despite Mannings’ efforts, Vinatieri wasn’t going to go home the loser.
The Ravens defense looked good, especially considering they were playing the Colts. Steve McNair, on the other hand, showed the incompetence that got him booted from the Titans clubhouse. The Ravens need to to take a serious look at some of the free agent quarterbacks and find one that can take them the distance. With that defense, they can always compete. They just need some offensive weaponry. Until next year Baltimore.
The NFL continues to suprise the hell out of me. Going with the old adage that defense wins championships, I had picked the Ravens to win this matchup. Obiviously, I was wrong. In another surprise, the Colts defense continued to shut down the run. This defense has become a completely different unit in the post season. They’ve held Larry Johnson and Jamal Lewis, two great backs, to a combined 85 yards and no touchdowns. Simply amazing.
With the Colts winning this game, I think there is a very good shot that the away teams could win everyone of the games in this round of the playoffs. I’m pretty sure that would be a first. The NFL is just full of surprises.
