Considering the current situation in Denver, the addition of A.I. could not have come at a better time. After losing the leagues leading scorer (Carmelo Anthony) to a league mandated 15 game suspension, the Nuggets landed the NBA’s #2 in points scored per game, Allen Iverson. My hat goes off to Kiki Vandeweghe and the rest of the Nuggets organization for turning a pretty bleak looking situation into one of hope for both the present and the future.

However, where there is hope, there is also the reality of the loss. Namely, Andre Miller and two first round draft choices. Andre Miller, a proven master of the assist and an underrated shooter, will be greatly missed. Besides his great performance on the court, Andre was also a solid character guy. You will be missed Andre, good luck in Philadelphia! Andre aside, I keep hearing how this is one of the best drafts in a while. If this is the case, is A.I. really worth giving up two first round picks? There is no doubt that at this very moment Iverson has more talent in his sweet headband than a handful of draft choices will have when they enter the league. Still, one has to wonder if the future of the franchise is in jeopardy by giving up two great opportunities to pick up some young impact players. Whenever you have Melo sitting on your bench the future isn’t typically regarded as ever being in jeopardy, but one still has to consider the possibilites.

When it is all said and done, I think this will prove to be a brilliant move on the part of both clubs. With Kyle Korver and Andre Miller, the 76ers will surely lift themselves off the bottom rung of the Eastern Conference ladder. With the addition of A.I., the Nuggets will weather the storm and make some noise in the playoffs. Then again, all this could backfire horribly. I mean, unless the league decide that one leather ball equals two synthetic balls and the Nuggets decide to go with the later option, will Melo or A.I. really ever get the ball enough to suffice their insatiable appetites? Only time will tell…
